NEAT BOOK

There is a party going on in the solar system, and each of the planets which orbit our sun is a disco ball. From Mercury to Neptune, the rhythmic text describes various characteristics of the different planets in order. Pluto is mentioned as a dwarf planet. Which one is fastest? Which one is hottest? Which one is biggest? Imani Ariana Grant is a nine year old author who enjoys writing stories and playing the violin, basketball, and with her friends. Disco Balls of the Universe was written by Imani when she was eight and her mother told her to write a poem.
The illustrators are Zachary-Michael Clarke, age thirteen, and Simonne-Anais Clarke, age sixteen. The back of the book contains a glossary of key words, a word search puzzle, and a page of “Did You Know” trivia facts. It is an excellent way of presenting scientific concepts. I certainly agree that the beautifully illustrated Disco Balls of the Universe is both an educational and entertaining way to learn about the planets in the solar system from a child’s perspective.
